Basic Advice in Creating a Deck (3 of 5)

2) Burn/Direct Damage Deck

The strategy of a Burn Deck is to lower your opponent's Life Points other than Battle Damage. This is usually done by playing Magic/Spell and Trap Cards that deal Direct Damage to an opponent. Some monsters also have Effects that deal or inflict Direct Damage to an opponent's Life Points. You need a little bit more dueling experience if you're building a Burn Deck. One of the weaknesses of Burn Decks is being vulnerable to attack by your opponent's strong monsters. However, depending on how you build your Burn Deck, you should be able to lower your opponent's Life Points down to zero before he/she brings out his/her strongest monsters.

Examples of Burn-Type Cards:
Magic/Spell Trap Monsters
Ookazi (SDK-023)
Tremendous Fire (MRD-088)
 Magic Cylinder (LON-104)
 Nightmare Wheel (PGD-106)
 Cannon Soldier (MRD-106)
 Princess of Tsurugi (MRD-086)

3) Hand/Deck Destruction Deck a.k.a. Control Deck

This is one of the hardest decks to build. The strategy of this Deck-Type is to make your opponent discard the cards in his hand and eventually discard his entire deck to the Graveyard. When your opponent has no cards in his deck, you automatically win. Also, some skilled duelists even find a way to prevent their opponents from drawing cards or keep them drawing cards until they "deck" themseleves. In my opinion, duelists who build this Deck-Type are the most experienced in the Yugioh! game. I rarely see anyone who uses this Deck-Type.

Examples of Hand/Deck Destruction Cards:
Magic/Spell Trap Monsters
Delinquent Duo(MRL-039)
Card Destruction (SDY-042)
 Drop Off (LOD-097)
 Robbin' Goblin (MRD-135)
 Needle Worm (TP3-001)
 Yata Garasu (LOD-000)

4) Auto-Win Deck

This Deck-Type allows a Duelist to win automatically if he/she has certain cards in his/her hand or on the field regardless of Life Points.
This Deck-Type is includes one or more of the following:
"Exodia the Forbidden One"
"Destiny Board"
"Last Turn"

This is the most expensive Deck-Type to build in terms of money. Duelists who build this Deck-Type use Defensive or Stall strategies. I, myself, have only gone up against "Exodia" Decks.

General Cards used in Exodia Decks:
Magic/Spell Trap Monsters
 Painful Choice
 Swords of Revealing Light
 Backup Soldier
 Gravity Bind
 Witch of the Black Forest
 Sangan
